JOB OPPORTUNITY: CIRCUS INSTRUCTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Circus Instructor
Location: Atlantic Cirque - Halifax
Contract commencement: Spring or summer 2024 (part-time weeknights and/or weekends)
Contract dates available:
Summer Camps: July & August (8 weeks)
Fall: September to December (15 weeks)
Winter-Spring: January to March (9 weeks)
March break: (1 full-time week)
Spring: April to June (12 weeks)
Job Summary:
Circus instructors needed for our recreational level classes, birthday parties and camps.
The work will involve teaching children ages 3 to 18.
Hourly rate: Commensurate with experience and level of proficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist or lead in teaching circus classes, camps, parties, private lessons and/or workshops.
- Prepare class content based of the student’s skill level and interest.
- Work in collaboration with the other circus instructors (or assistant-coaches).
- In addition to preparing and teaching classes, camps and birthday parties, the instructor may be asked to do a few administration tasks such as processing payments, getting waivers filled out, etc.
Knowledge & Skills
The Circus Instructor is required to have teaching experience and/or extensive knowledge in some of the following disciplines: floor acrobatics, mini–trampoline, tumbling, aerial apparatus, hand balancing, handstands, juggling, contortion, rola bola, diabolo, human pyramids, hand-to-hand and or other circus specialty skills.
Special Requirements
-All circus instructors are required to have their first aid certification.
