JOB OPPORTUNITY: CIRCUS INSTRUCTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Circus Instructor
Location: Atlantic Cirque - Halifax or Moncton (see below)
Contract commencement: July or September 2013 (part-time to 35 hours/week available)
Contract dates available:
Summer Camps: July & August (8 weeks)
Fall: September to December (14 weeks)
Winter-Spring: January to March (9 weeks)
March break (1 full-time week)
Spring: March to June (14 weeks)
Job Summary:
Moncton location
Circus instructors needed for our recreational level classes and camps.
The work will involve teaching children ages 3 to adults.
Hourly pay: Commensurate with experience and level of proficiency.
Halifax location
Circus instructors needed for our pre-professional, intermediate and advanced programs.
The work will involve teaching mostly teenagers to adults.
Hourly pay: Commensurate with experience and level of proficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching circus classes, camps, parties, private lessons and/or workshops.
- Follow the Atlantic Cirque week-by-week class-content synopsis.
- Prepare class content based of the student’s skill level and interest.
- Work in collaboration with the other circus instructors (or assistant-coaches).
- In addition to preparing and teaching classes, camps and birthday parties, the instructor may be asked to do a few administration tasks such as taking phone messages, emailing, prepare word document, processing payments.
Knowledge & Skills
The Circus Instructor is required to have teaching experience and/or extensive knowledge in most of the following disciplines: floor acrobatics, mini–trampoline, tumbling, aerial apparatus, hand balancing, handstands, juggling, contortion, rola bola, diabolo, human pyramids, hand-to-hand and specialty skills such as fixed trapeze, cerceau (lyra), corde lisse, silks, cloud swing.
Special Requirements
-All circus instructors are required to have their first aid certification.
